NSE-BSE bulk deals: FIIs, MFs lap up Blackstone’s 23% stake in Essel Propack

Mumbai: The bulk deals space was abuzz with activity on Friday, which saw Blackstone offloading 23 per cent stake in global tube-packaging company Essel Propack. The same was lapped up by various investors including the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund The Government Pension Fund Global, and other foreign and domestic funds.

Promoter group Dilesh Roadlines cut its stake in Valiant Organics, while fund houses lapped up the same.

The Vanguard Group went shopping for Indian stocks, while Integrated Core Strategies trimmed its holdings.

Of the frontline indices, Sensex shed 0.34 per cent to close at 38,846, while peer Nifty dropped 0.1 per cent to 11,505.

Here’s who bought and sold what in some of the key bulk deals of the day:
>> US private equity major Blackstone’s entity Epsilon Bidco PTE, which owned nearly 75 per cent stake in the company sold a total of 23 per cent stake or 7,25,80,090 shares. The buyers included The Government Pension Fund Global, Templeton Asian Smaller Companies Fund, Emerging Markets Equity Fund, Neuberger Berman Equity Funds, Nomura India Stock Mother Fund, Axis Mutual Fund, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund.

In August last year, Blackstone had acquired about 75 per cent stake in Essel Propack in a deal worth $460 million or Rs 3,200 crore.

>> Dilesh Roadlines sold 4,00,000 shares of Valiant Organics at Rs 2,749.10 per share, while Goldman Sachs India Fund bought 1,06,502 shares in the company at Rs 2,749 and Nippon India Mutual Fund lapped up 2,90,000 shares at Rs 2,749.02 per share.

Promoter group Dilesh Roadlines held 8.85 per cent stake in the company at the end of June.

>> The Vanguard Group went on a shopping spree of Indian stocks and bought a host of stocks in its Vanguard Emerging Markets Stock Index Fund A series of V I E I F. These included Adani Green Energy, Amber Enterprises, Atul, Deepak Nitrite, Dixon Technologies, Granules India, Indraprastha Gas, Infibeam Avenues, JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Manappuram Finance, Navin Flourine, Tata ELxsi, and Trent. Also, it offloaded shares of Dish TV India and VA Tech Wabag.

>> On the other hand, Integrated Core Strategies (Asia) Pte Ltd sold shares of Amber Enterprises, APL Apollo Tubes, Atul, Blue Star, Deepak Nitrite, Dixon Technologies, Granules India, Infibeam Avenues, Navin Flourine, Tata Elxsi and Trent.

>> Ponrinju Velliyath’s EQ India Fund bought 8,88,888 shares of Gati at Rs 49.45 per share.

>> Capston Capital Partners sold 5,00,000 shares of Oriental Trimex at Rs 9.95 per share to Sawarnbhumi Vanijya Pvt Ltd. Capston held 4.5 per cent stake in the company at the end of June.
